Can I Get Some Service Please?
Transcript of conversation with sales assistant at Dick Smith yesterday:
Dad: “How much is a 2 Gig pen drive?”
Sales assistant: “You won’t fill it.”
Dad: “Is it big?”
Sales assistant: “What type of files will you be using it for?”
Dad: “Photos.”
Sales assistant: “You won’t fill it.”
Dad: (indignantly) “Sure I will. I’ll take that one and one of the 1 gigs.”
Sales assistant: (rolls eyes.) “No you won’t. That’s $155”
Dad: “Thanks.” (hands over money)
Sales Assistant: “Do you want a bag?”
Dad: “Why not.”
Sales assistant: “I can think of a million reasons why not, unless that was a rhetorical question, and by the look on your face I’m assuming that it was.”
Dad: (Blank stare) “What?”
Sales assistant: “The environment for one and I can think of a dozen other reasons right now, but of course you didn’t really want me to answer that question did you.”
Dad: “Errr…It’s really good that you sell these in plastic…”
Me: That was the most random comment ever….
Sales Assistant: “Yes, just brilliant. Fantastic. I really am in charge of the manufacture and packaging of our products aren’t I? I really value your feedback.”
Dad: “That was very strange”
I burst into hysterical laughter.
Dad: “She was a bit odd wan’t she?”
Me: "I think she’s BRILLIANT!”
